Welcome to Jetsetting With Urmi and Sanjay, aka Jetsetting With US! We are a couple from New York City who take frequent trips both domestically and abroad.
We love traveling, and frequently wish we could share what we learned with others! Our friends and family frequently ask us for recommendations on places to visit, or tips and tricks for places they’ve already booked. We always wished we had a better way to spread that information! Thus, we opened this blog to help others find the inside information they need to make the most of their trips.
Primarily, our trips together are hiking the US National Parks. Sanjay also does many solo scuba diving trips. Of course, we are not shy to take other types of trips, whether for rest and relaxation, enjoy a music festival, or check out another city! We strive to include a review and inside information of all trips we do, so we can pass on what we learned to our readers.
About Sanjay
Sanjay was inspired to travel frequently by a college friend who seemed to take a trip every month after she got her first job. When in college and graduate school, Sanjay was always afraid that once he started a full-time job, he’d never have enough vacation days to do the travel he wanted. Fortunately, he was dead wrong!
Through careful financial management, Sanjay discovered how to balance having a full-time job with frequent travel, using long weekends to full advantage. This worked well for many types of locations, though he still wanted to take a true sabbatical from work to travel unfettered.
In late 2018, Sanjay left his job to take that true sabbatical. His goal was to travel to the off-the-beaten-path locations that are near impossible to see on a normal American vacation schedule. He spent 3 months completing his Divemaster certification in scuba diving, then spent the rest of the year traveling to scuba dive in remote places such as Gorgona, the Azores, and Miyakojima.
While Sanjay has since resumed working in the corporate realm, he maintains that his priority will always be his passions over his career. He continues to travel frequently and still believes that few travel blogs (if any) provide the information needed to maximize the short time travelers get. He opened Jetsetting With US to pass on the information he learns during his travels to other hungry travelers!
About Urmi
Urmi grew up traveling most of her summer breaks. Between India, Europe, and the US, Urmi was fortunate to start seeing the world at a young age. Going through undergrad and the first few years of working, Urmi did her best to take advantage of vacation days and long weekends to travel and get out of NYC.
In summer 2013, Urmi made her first trip out to visit some of the US’s most iconic national parks, including Bryce Canyon National Park, Arches National Park, and Grand Canyon National Park. Blown away by the natural beauty that surrounded her, Urmi knew what her life-long resolution needed to be: visit at least one new place every year – it didn’t matter if it was a national park, state park, country, city, it just had to be somewhere she’d never been before! For 9 years, Urmi’s held up her resolution, some years visiting a whole host of new places, and loving every minute of it!
Realizing how critical these getaways were to feeling energized – whether it is a beach trip or to visit a national park – Urmi tries to maximize the vacation time she gets from her ‘day job’ to soak in the history, culture, and beauty around the world! She hopes that by sharing tips, tricks, and the amazing views from her trips, she’ll inspire others in their travels!
